SHILLONG: An unattended bag found hanging on the gate of the State Bank of India (SBI) Main Branch in Khyndailad on November 24 sparked a major bomb scare, causing panic among commuters and pedestrians.
The presence of the suspicious bag immediately triggered fear that it might contain an explosive device.
Locals promptly informed the police, who rushed to the scene to initiate an investigation.
As a precaution, the police swiftly cordoned off the area and restricted public movement while awaiting the arrival of the Bomb Squad.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad arrived shortly thereafter and conducted the necessary procedures.
After a thorough inspection, the Bomb Squad confirmed that the bag contained only clothes, and posed no threat.
Following the confirmation, the police reopened the area to the public, and normalcy was restored to the busy street.
