SHILLONG: The National President of the National People’s Party (NPP), Conrad K. Sangma, expressed his hope and extended special congratulations to Dr. Lorho as the new President of the Party in Manipur. This appointment comes at a crucial and challenging time for both the State and the Party.
The Chief Minister said that the situation in Manipur is indeed critical. “Manipur is going through a difficult phase, besides the challenges in law and order and the social situation, there is also political instability,” stated the NPP President.
He added that a political vacuum has begun to emerge, and for this reason, the Party must prepare to welcome individuals who wish to join and use this opportunity to strengthen the Party’s influence.
Sangma praised Dr. Lorho’s work as a Parliamentarian , describing him as a gentle person, always smiling, and welcoming to all. Yet, beneath his pleasant demeanour, he is a person who believes in Principles , is God-fearing, and dedicated to his people, the State, and the entire North East region.
”I am truly grateful that you decided to join us. When Dr. Lorho came, he did not ask for any position, but said he wanted to serve the people of Manipur and the Northeast, and he saw the NPP as the most appropriate platform to do that,” said Conrad Sangma, adding that Dr. Lorho is a “selfless person” .
The President warned the new appointee that the work will be difficult and involve many challenges. “At this time, especially in Manipur, what happens will depend on how the Party President presents the Party in that State.”
He urged Dr. Lorho to be a person who is not complacent, who is ready to meet the public , and to establish the NPP as the future of Manipur and a Party capable of leading the State out of its current turmoil.
He expressed great expectation that Dr. Lorho will be able to prepare the Party to become a major player in the upcoming 2027 election, and potentially even form the government. He also promised the full support and cooperation of the National Committee.
