KHLIEHRIAT: Police arrested a 23-year-old man on Thursday for his alleged involvement in drug peddling in the Soo Kilo market area and nearby localities of East Jaintia Hills district. A total of 1.37 grams of ‘heroin’ was seized from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Kheinkor Muliar alias Khein (23). He was apprehended while driving a white Alto car (registration number ML06A 0621) at Soo Kilo.

According to East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar, the arrest was made following credible information regarding the suspect’s involvement in drug smuggling activities in the area.
After detaining the accused, police conducted a body search in the presence of independent witnesses, during which incriminating materials were recovered. The seized items included one plastic (Ponds) container containing an orange-coloured powder suspected to be heroin, one empty Golden tobacco container, and 25 syringes.
“Preliminary testing conducted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act procedures yielded a positive result for heroin,” SP Kumar said.
He further stated that the accused was actively involved in drug peddling in and around the Soo Kilo market area.
“A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. The accused is being produced before the court today,” SP Kumar added.
