No casualties or injuries to human life were reported in the incident. However, both families have suffered immense financial loss.

SHILLONG: A massive fire broke out at a residence in Mawlai Nonglum on Tuesday afternoon, leaving two families in distress after their belongings were reduced to ashes. The intensity of the blaze was reportedly worsened by the explosion of a domestic gas cylinder, causing the fire to spread rapidly throughout the structure.

The house, owned by Ibadalinda Rangslang, caught fire at approximately 11:45 AM. At the time of the incident, the property was occupied by two tenant families — the household of Kyntiewriti Sawkmie, which consists of seven members, and Buetilin Sawkmie, who resides there with her child.

According to local reports, only children were present inside the house when the fire started. Family members stated they were unsure of the exact cause of the ignition and only became aware of the situation once the flames had already engulfed the building.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries to human life were reported in the incident. However, both families have suffered immense financial loss as all their household items, essential documents, and personal belongings were completely destroyed in the fire.
