SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government has extended the deadline for its One-Time Settlement Scheme, allowing vehicle owners to clear outstanding dues on Motor Vehicle Tax, Passenger and Goods Tax, and Fitness fees until October 31, 2026.

The extension comes after the All Meghalaya Truck Owners, Drivers and Welfare Association requested additional time for truck owners to pay their overdue taxes.

Association president Wanshuwa Nongtdu thanked Transport Department officials for considering their appeal, noting that while the association initially sought a December extension, the government agreed to the October deadline after discussions.

Nongtdu urged all truck owners to take advantage of this opportunity, warning that a similar scheme may not be offered in the future.

He also encouraged prompt payment to avoid further operational disruptions, emphasizing the association’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of truckers and the public.
