SHILLONG: In a significant anti-drug operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Meghalaya Police apprehended a suspected drug peddler and seized heroin during a midnight raid at a hotel in Police Bazar.
According to police sources, on March 4 at around 10:00 PM, the ANTF received credible information that a suspected drug trafficker identified as Hegin Guite, who had reportedly arrived in Shillong from Manipur, was staying at Room No. 115 of Rainbow Hotel in Police Bazar and was believed to be carrying contraband.
Acting on the tip-off, an ANTF team conducted a raid at the hotel room shortly after midnight on March 5. During the search operation, the team recovered seven soap case boxes containing suspected heroin.
The seized contraband was later weighed and found to be 70.93 grams of heroin.
