SHILLONG: The Christmas and New Year celebrations in 2025 passed off peacefully across the district, marking a notable improvement compared to previous years, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Vivek Syiem, said.
Addressing the media, SP Syiem stated that no untoward incidents were reported during the festive period. He noted that both Christmas and New Year celebrations were conducted smoothly and in an orderly manner, reflecting enhanced coordination and vigilance by the police force.
Highlighting the positive outcome, the SP expressed optimism that such peaceful celebrations would continue in the years ahead. He assured that the police department remains committed to strengthening law and order arrangements during major festivals and public gatherings.
SP Syiem also lauded the dedication and tireless efforts of police personnel deployed during the festive days. In recognition of their service, he informed that the department has decided to felicitate all officers and personnel who were on duty during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
