UMSNING: A house in Nongjri Umsning in Ri Bhoi district, belonging to one Iantibha Lamare and Cobin Mawlong, was completely gutted by fire, reducing all their belongings inside to ashes. The incident occurred suddenly last night around 11:30 PM.
The cause of the fire is strongly suspected to be a malfunction and subsequent fire from a Solar Battery, as the household does not have an electrical connection and uses solar power for light.
When news of the fire broke, locals immediately rushed to help extinguish the blaze, which had grown significantly. However, due to the intensity and rampant spread of the flames, the public was unable to do anything, which ultimately resulted in the fire consuming all the family’s possessions.
The Fire Department police from Umiam attempted to reach the location but did not arrive in time. They reached the spot only after the fire had completely consumed the house and turned all the belongings into ashes.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or any sad incidents, apart from the loss of property and possessions.
