SHILLONG: The Office of the Commissioner and Food Safety has ordered the temporary closure of Kozy Bar & Restaurant at 4th Furlong and suspended its licence after officials detected serious violations of food safety and hygiene standards.

The action followed an inspection that uncovered irregularities related to food and beverages, as well as inadequate cleanliness at the establishment.

Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety Enforcement, Smt. D.B.S. Mukhim, informed the media that the restaurant had been shut down and that a detailed report would be submitted to the relevant authorities for further action.

Mukhim noted that while Kozy Bar & Restaurant had previously passed inspections, the latest visit revealed significant lapses amounting to violations of Schedule 4 of the Food Safety regulations.

She warned all food vendors, restaurants, bars, and hotels to strictly maintain hygiene and cleanliness, emphasizing that the department would continue regular inspections and take strict measures—including closure and fines—against violators.

“The department will no longer be lenient towards those who violate the rules. While we may have given opportunities in the past, there will be no such leniency from now on,” Mukhim stated.
