Meghalaya Asst Teacher Recruitment Exam Postponed to March 28 Due to Law and Order Situation in Tura

The board clarified that while the examination date has been changed, the timing and examination centres will remain the same.

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Education Recruitment Board (MERB) has postponed the Combined Written Examination for the posts of Assistant Teachers (Arts) and Assistant Teachers (Life Science/Science with Mathematics). The examination, which was originally scheduled to be held on March 14, 2026, will now take place on March 28, 2026 (Saturday).

According to an official press release issued by the Directorate of School Education and Literacy, Government of Meghalaya, the decision was taken following directions from higher authorities due to the prevailing law and order situation in West Garo Hills, Tura, where one of the examination centres is located.

The board clarified that while the examination date has been changed, the timing and examination centres will remain the same. Candidates appearing for the exam have been advised to download fresh admit cards from the official website https://megrecruitment.nic.in starting from March 14, 2026. The new admit cards will reflect the revised date of the examination.
