Meghalaya BJP Submits Representation to Govt, Seeks Action on Border Infiltration

The BJP expects the State Government to act decisively in coordination with security forces deployed along the border.

SHILLONG: BJP Meghalaya General Secretary Wankitbok Pohshna on Monday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already issued directions to send back individuals who have entered from across the border to their places of origin.

Speaking to the media, Pohshna informed that the party has submitted a written representation to the State Government and expressed hope that the matter would be taken seriously. He said the BJP has also instructed its leaders in border constituencies to remain alert and closely monitor the situation, directing them to immediately report any suspicious activities.

He further stated that the party expects the State Government to act decisively in coordination with security forces deployed along the border.

Referring to alleged threats circulated on social media by individuals from Bangladesh, Pohshna said the party is concerned but asserted that India is a strong nation and the North East is an integral part of the country. He added that the Government of India is closely monitoring the situation.

Pohshna also said the Central Government has taken serious note of developments in Bangladesh. He added that since the BJP came to power, significant steps have been taken to strengthen border fencing, along with increased development initiatives in border areas.
