SHILLONG: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr. B.D.R. Tiwari, IAS, reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026, with district and election officials, as well as political party representatives, via virtual meetings on Tuesday.
Dr. Tiwari reported that the Draft Electoral Roll includes 21,69,243 electors, with 6,51,735 notices generated—of which 6,51,391 have been delivered.
So far, 6,13,512 cases have completed hearings, and 1,510 electors have been found ineligible.
A total of 19,96,297 electors are set for final publication.
The CEO highlighted that 2,22,786 cases relate to unmapped electors and 4,28,949 to mapping discrepancies.
The CEO reiterated new voter-facilitation measures: most electors with unmapped or discrepancy notices do not need to visit ERO/AERO offices, as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will collect documents at home and upload them on ECINet.

Hearings will only be required in exceptional cases, and may be held online or via an authorised family member.
Special efforts are being made to support economically disadvantaged and homeless persons through help desks and camps.
So far, 23,259 applications for additions, deletions, shifts, and corrections have been digitised across the state.
Political parties have appointed 1,814 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to assist with the SIR process, and parties were urged to maintain their support.
The final Electoral Roll will be published on October 26, 2026.
The CEO urged election officials to resolve all pending cases promptly and asked electors to cooperate with BLOs and verify their inclusion in the final roll.
