Meghalaya Govt. Initiates Major Police Reshuffle Across Khasi & Garo Hills

The comprehensive transfer orders, issued by F.R. Kharkongor, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya.

SHILLONG: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Government of Meghalaya has executed a major reshuffle within the state police department, transferring and reassigning several high-ranking IPS and MPS officers to key positions across Shillong, Tura, and various districts.

The comprehensive transfer orders, issued by F.R. Kharkongor, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Home (Police) Department, were enacted based on the recommendations of the Civil Services Board (CSB) and the Police Establishment Board (PEB).

Among the most notable changes in the senior leadership, Vivekanand Singh, IPS (RR 2012), currently serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range (ER), Shillong, is returning to Tura to take over as the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range (WR).

He succeeds Jerry Fiscer K. Marak, IPS (SPS 2011), who has been moved from the Western Range in Tura to Shillong to serve as the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range.

According to the official notification, these postings are made in the interest of public service and will take effect from the date of taking over charge.

The reshuffle also impacted several other senior IPS officers. Siddharth Kumar Ambedkar, IPS (RR 2014), has been transferred from his role as Commandant of the 5th MLP Battalion in Samanda to serve as Commandant of the 6th MLP Battalion in Umran.

Shailendra Bamaniya, IPS (RR 2016), the Superintendent of Police for South Garo Hills District, Baghmara, has been reassigned as the Superintendent of Police, CID, in Shillong.

Furthermore, Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao, IPS (RR 2020), will move from his position as Superintendent of Police of North Garo Hills District, Resubelpara, to become the Superintendent of Police for East Garo Hills District in Williamnagar.

Changes continued within the Shillong administration as Naman Kumar, IPS (RR 2021), the Superintendent of Police (VIS), was posted as the Superintendent of Police for CM Security.

Dewansh Pandey, IPS (RR 2021), previously the Superintendent of Police (City), Shillong, has been shifted to the role of Assistant Inspector General of Police (L&O) in Shillong.

Ashish, IPS (RR 2021), moves from his post as Commandant of the 6th MLP Battalion in Umran to become the Superintendent of Police, VIS, Shillong, while Ishan Gupta, IPS (RR 2021), transitions from Superintendent of Police, CM Security, to take charge of the North Garo Hills District as its new Superintendent of Police.

Additionally, Hari Prasant M.R, IPS (RR 2021), who served as Superintendent of Police, MPRO, Tura, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) for East Khasi Hills, filling an existing vacancy.

In addition to the IPS reassignments, the Police Establishment Board recommended several changes for MPS officers. Stephen A. Rynjah, MPS, moves from his post as Superintendent of Police of East Garo Hills District to become the Commandant of the 5th MLP Battalion in Samanda.

He is succeeded in East Garo Hills by Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao, while Ringrang T.G. Momin, MPS, moves from CID, Shillong, to take over as the Superintendent of Police for South Garo Hills District.

Geffry Waemhok Lyngdoh, MPS, has been transferred from his role as Assistant Inspector General of Police (L&O) to serve as the Superintendent of Police for Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Mairang.

Consequently, Dangsan Khyriem, MPS, the outgoing Superintendent of Police of Eastern West Khasi Hills, has been posted to the capital as the new Superintendent of Police (City), Shillong.
