Who is the drug kingpin photographed alongside with Conrad Sangma? Why did Mukul Sangma warn Conrad to think twice before he engages in a relationship with individuals conflict with the law?
Recently, Trinamool Congress MLA, Dr Mukul Sangma accused Chief Minister Conrad Sangma of his close relationship with an individual from Mizoram who is a drug kingpin- Henry Lalremsanga.
Dr Mukul raised this issue in a motion which was brought forward by Voice of the People Party (VPP) Ardent Basaiawmoit, during the Autumn session over the inflow of drugs into the state.
Who is Henry Lalremsanga?
According to media reports, Henry is a resident of Mizoram and the son of a former Congress MLA. In 2013 he was arrested in New Delhi and from his possession police recovered pseudoephedrine tablets tuned to 6 crore rupees.
Henry arrived in New Delhi around 2003 and was working in different banks switching roles he entered into real estate market acquiring properties.
Police sources indicate that Henry is a dreaded drug kingpin in Mizoram and has been working constantly with Arvind Ahuja, son of Ashok Ahuja a former MLA from Delhi including his driver Manish.
Henry’s social media profile says a different story, he worked at GOLDENLINE PROMOTERS PRIVATE LIMITED, a construction firm based in New Delhi.
How did Conrad meet Henry?
During the Assembly session, Dr Mukul showed pictures of Conrad Sangma, his wife and Henry during a programme which was held in Delhi.
In trying to find out how Henry entered into the picture, Mukul Sangma said that he received inputs that the Chief Minister’s Office sought permission for Henry.
The Chief Minister has refuted these claims saying that he takes pictures with many people everyday and replied to Mukul over the accusation adding the Songsak MLA tried the same but without any valid proof.
Judging a person only from a photo op does not hold any weight, said Conrad.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong requested the speaker of the Assembly to expunge these accusations that it violated the sanctum of the house.
In his reply, Dr Mukul said that this cannot be dubbed as character assassination but to give ideas to the Chief Minister on how to be careful who he meets.
Speaker Thomas Sangma took a decision by listening to the grievances from the Deputy Chief Minister to remove the accusation from Dr Mukul Sangma.
Is it true that Conrad’s relationship with Henry is just a farce as described? Or Henry might have brought himself closer for an NPP ticket for the upcoming elections.
