NCP Signals Openness to Induct Former Meghalaya CM Dr. Mukul Sangma

NCP would welcome Dr. Mukul Sangma if he chooses to join the party, adding that it is working serve the interests of the people.

SHILLONG: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has expressed its willingness to welcome former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul A. Sangma into the party, stating that its doors remain open to experienced leaders committed to Meghalaya’s development.

Speaking to the media, Omillo K. Sangma, President of the NCP Meghalaya unit and former Kharkutta MLA, said the party would be pleased to induct Dr. Mukul A. Sangma should he decide to join its ranks. He informed that the NCP is actively working to strengthen its organisational base by bringing in seasoned and capable leaders who can contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress.

Sangma reiterated that the NCP remains open to leaders from other political parties who are genuinely dedicated to the welfare and advancement of the people of Meghalaya. However, he emphasised that the outcome of the upcoming Assembly elections would ultimately depend on the mandate of the electorate.

“The people will decide. Our focus is on consolidating public support and strengthening the party structure as the state prepares for the electoral contest,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dapkupar Nongrum, NCP State Youth President, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the party’s primary objective is to reinforce its organisational framework at the grassroots level.

He reiterated that the NCP would welcome Dr. Mukul A. Sangma if he chooses to join the party and added that the organisation is working diligently to serve the interests and welfare of the people of the state.
