SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) Meghalaya State President and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has downplayed the resignation of party co-founder and former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. W.R. Kharlukhi, describing it as a routine part of Meghalaya’s dynamic political landscape.
Tynsong emphasized that such changes in party affiliation are common and not extraordinary, noting that senior leaders often step down from their parent parties and join other outfits.

While expressing personal sadness over Dr. Kharlukhi’s departure, Tynsong acknowledged his pivotal role in establishing the NPP, but stressed that the party respects his personal decision.
He clarified that Dr. Kharlukhi cited personal reasons for his resignation and did not mention any grievances or conflicts within the party.
