SHILLONG: Banks across Shillong remained open on Monday, despite earlier announcements by employees’ unions of a planned three-day closure from September 28 to 30.
The proposed strike, which aimed to press the Central Government to meet union demands, had prompted many residents and business owners to complete transactions in advance, fearing disruptions.
However, as banks functioned normally, the public expressed concern over the lack of a clear notification about the strike being withdrawn.

Many customers questioned why banks did not issue a fresh notice clarifying that services would continue as usual, noting that the initial closure announcement had been widely publicized.
Members of the public urged banks to improve communication regarding strike updates so customers can plan their activities without confusion.
