Centuries-Old Ward’s Lake Witnesses Meghalaya Cabinet in Action

The century-old lake added a unique charm to the proceedings, marking a scenic departure from standard cabinet sittings.

SHILLONG: Today’s Cabinet meeting of the Meghalaya government stood out from the regular sessions. For the first time, the Council of Ministers convened their meeting in a picturesque public location, at Ward’s Lake,  (also known as Nan Polok) in the heart of Shillong.

This marks the first instance of the government holding such a meeting in a public area. While one section of the popular tourist spot was designated a ‘high-security zone’ for the meeting, the other part remained open for the public to enjoy. This move highlights the government’s intention to integrate administration with the natural beauty of the state.
