SHILLONG: Pedestrian and vehicular traffic in Shillong’s busy Khyndailad area came to a halt for about half an hour after an unattended green bag and black trolley suitcase were found abandoned on the road.
The discovery triggered widespread panic among commuters and onlookers, who feared the luggage might contain explosives or other dangerous materials. The mounting anxiety prompted authorities to call in the police Bomb Squad to inspect and verify any potential threat.
During the tense standoff, security forces and police quickly cordoned off the area, blocking access from all sides to ensure public safety.

As the crowd waited anxiously for the Bomb Squad’s arrival, a man suddenly approached the cordoned-off zone. It was soon revealed that he had simply forgotten his luggage near the scooty parking area in Khyndailad and had returned to retrieve it.
His unexpected move to claim the bag and suitcase initially startled the crowd, but tension quickly turned to relief and laughter when it became clear the bags posed no threat.
The incident ended on a positive note, as everyone realized the abandoned luggage had been mistakenly left behind and contained nothing harmful.
