SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has announced ₹5 lakh in financial assistance to restore the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and replace the protective glass on the statue of Swami Vivekananda at RR Colony in Rynjah, Shillong.
The announcement came after the Chief Minister personally inspected the site, where both memorials were vandalized by masked miscreants during the August 19 Khasi Students’ Union rally.

During his visit, Sangma assessed the extent of the damage and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring the monuments.
He also met with members of the local Development Committee to discuss community challenges and hear residents’ grievances related to the area’s overall development.
