KJP Synod Pdeng Condemns Killing of Three Pastors in Manipur

The KJP Synod Pdeng has described the killing of three pastors in Manipur as a heinous and cowardly act against religious leaders.

SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Pdeng has condemned the recent killing of three pastors in Manipur, describing the incident as a heinous and cowardly act against religious leaders who dedicated their lives to peace and the welfare of humanity.

Speaking to reporters, KJP Synod Pdeng Moderator Rev. H.K. Nongbsap expressed profound grief and shock over the ambush that claimed the lives of Rev. Bumthang Sitlu, former General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention, Pastor P.K. Kaung Lun, and Pastor Poko Len.
Rev. Nongbsap said the Synod was heartbroken by the tragic incident and noted that it was unimaginable that religious leaders committed to promoting peace and solidarity could become victims of violence.
“The Synod stands united in condemning such acts. Violence against those who serve God and humanity is an attack on society as a whole,” he said.
He further termed the killings as cowardly and extended solidarity to the bereaved families and the wider church community during their time of grief and sorrow.
The Moderator also offered prayers for strength and comfort for the affected families, expressing hope that God would grant them courage and peace amid the tragedy.
Stressing that no ideology or grievance can justify the taking of innocent lives, Rev. Nongbsap called on people to reject hatred, division, and violence, and instead uphold love, faith, and an unwavering commitment to peace and harmony.
He also expressed confidence that peace and tranquility would ultimately prevail over violence and evil.
