SHILLONG: The decomposed body of a man was recovered from a Forest Department quarter at Polo Hills, near the Buddhist Temple.
Police personnel from Pasteur Beat House received information on Tuesday morning regarding the presence of a body inside an abandoned government quarter in the area. Acting swiftly on the information, police rushed to the spot to verify the report.
Upon reaching the location, the team found the body of an unidentified male lying inside the quarter in a decomposed state. Initial observation suggested that the body had been there for some time. The Crime Scene Unit was immediately informed to assist with further examination and documentation of the scene.
After completion of all necessary legal and procedural formalities at the site, the body was taken into custody by the police and subsequently shifted to NEIGRIHMS for post-mortem examination and other medico-legal procedures to ascertain the cause of death and identity of the deceased.
