Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Nonglum Expresses Gratitude After Devastating House Fire

The Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Nonglum also extended warm wishes to the public for a peaceful and happy New Year 2026.

SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Nonglum, together with the families of Mr. Kyntiewriti Sawkmie and Mr. Beautilin Sawkmie, who were tenants in the house of Mr. Ibadalinda Rangslang (the two families affected by the house fire that occurred in the afternoon of 22nd December 2025), extend their deepest and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who rendered help.

Their gratitude goes to residents, public representatives, government agencies and organisations for their timely support and assistance to two families affected by a devastating house fire in the locality.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 22, 2025, when a fire broke out at a residence owned by Ibadalinda Rangslang, where two tenant families—those of Kyntiewriti Sawkmie and Beautilin Sawkmie—were residing. The blaze caused extensive damage, leaving both families in distress.

In an official note of appreciation, the Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Nonglum, along with the affected families, thanked local residents and Mawlai MLA Brightstarwell Marbaninag for their prompt response in helping to control the fire and for extending various forms of assistance in the aftermath of the incident.

Special appreciation was also conveyed to Victor Rangslang for providing temporary shelter to the affected families. The Dorbar further acknowledged the efforts of the Fire Tender Service, the Officer-in-Charge of Mawlai Police Station, and the Mawlai C&RD Block for their coordinated response during the emergency.

The Dorbar Shnong also recognised the generous support received from several organisations and individuals, including former Mawlai MLA P.T. Sawkmie, the District Child Protection Unit, the Social Welfare Department (East Khasi Hills), the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya, Seng Samla Mawlai Pyllun, KSU Mawlai Circle, HYC Mawlai Circle, FKJGP Mawlai Circle, Kiddies Corner Higher Secondary School, families and individuals from Mawprem and Nongmali, 4 Front Media, and many others.

Stating that the solidarity and compassion shown by the community would always be remembered, the Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Nonglum and the affected families said such collective support reflected the strong spirit of unity within the area.
