SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday submitted memorandums to all 36 MLAs representing the Khasi-Jaintia Hills, urging them to take up the Union’s five key demands during the upcoming Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, set to begin on August 24.
The KSU also plans to submit similar memorandums to the 24 MLAs from the Garo Hills region.
KSU Units and Circles in each Assembly constituency participated in delivering the memorandums to their respective elected representatives.

Emphasizing the duty of MLAs to address issues affecting employment, the indigenous community, and other state matters, the Union reiterated its expectation that legislators raise these concerns in the Assembly.
The KSU stated it will continue its agitation until the State Government fully addresses and implements its demands.
As part of its next phase, the Union will hold a sit-in demonstration at the statue of U Kiang Nangbah, opposite Shillong Civil Hospital, starting at 11 am on August 24.
Similar demonstrations are scheduled across seven districts of the Khasi-Jaintia Hills on August 25.
To avoid inconvenience to candidates appearing for the LDA examination conducted by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission, the KSU will not organize any protest on August 22.
