“Let Him Continue as SP”, HYC tells DGP on Proposed Transfer of SWKH District Police Chief

HYC appealed to the DGP to allow him to continue in the district in the interest of administrative stability and effective policing.

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Mawkyrwat Circle recently met the Director General of Police (DGP), Idashisha Nongrang, urging her to retain Banraplang Jyrwa as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of South West Khasi Hills District.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, HYC Mawkyrwat Circle President Wallambor Nongsiej said the organisation expressed concern over the recent transfer of the SP, noting that Jyrwa had not even completed one year in office.

HYC appealed to the DGP to allow him to continue in the district in the interest of administrative stability and effective policing.

During the meeting, the HYC also highlighted the need to strengthen measures to combat drug abuse by setting up an Anti-Narcotic Task Force in the district. Additionally, the organisation stressed the importance of checking the alleged illegal influx of outside labourers into South West Khasi Hills.

The DGP assured the delegation that the issues raised by the HYC Mawkyrwat Circle would be examined seriously and appropriate action would be taken.
