SHILLONG: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has expressed deep condolences to families affected by the devastating floods in Nepal, emphasizing the need for constant preparedness against natural calamities.
Addressing concerns about the safety of Meghalaya residents, Tynsong confirmed that, so far, the state government has received no official information regarding any locals being affected by the disaster.
He said the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police have been directed to investigate and gather detailed reports on any possible impact on Meghalaya citizens.

As of now, the administration is still awaiting updates and continues to monitor the situation closely.
The floods along the Tibet-Nepal border have claimed 469 lives, with around 14,000 people missing—including approximately 288 Indian nationals.
