Defamatory Posters Target Dy CM, SP Amid KSU Extortion Row

Authorities moved quickly to remove the posters once the incident was reported, but the episode has intensified tensions in Shillong.

SHILLONG: The extortion controversy involving Meghalaya police took a dramatic turn on October 2nd as defamatory posters targeting Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem appeared across key public spaces in Shillong.

The poster blitz followed the Khasi Students’ Union’s (KSU) public exposure of alleged illegal money collection by police personnel along highways in Mawkhanu and Thangshalai.

The posters, spotted at high-visibility locations such as the DSEO office barricade in Mawkhar, Synod Complex, Motphran, and near the statue of Bah Bull Lyngdoh, depicted both leaders with provocative captions and illustrations linking them to “ATM” money-making schemes.
