SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Health Department has placed medical teams along the Bangladesh border on high alert in response to a surge in dengue cases reported in the neighboring country.

Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla confirmed that officials in all border districts have been instructed to maintain heightened vigilance.

While emphasizing that the situation within Meghalaya remains under control with no significant increase in vector-borne cases, Shylla reassured the public that all necessary precautions are in place.

Mobile surveillance teams are actively monitoring vulnerable border areas, continuously assessing conditions and watching for early signs of dengue spread.

According to the Minister, there has been no alarming rise in cases so far, so the state government has not issued any formal advisories or administrative notifications.

Nevertheless, the state’s frontline healthcare network—including Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres, and Community Health Centres—remains fully mobilized to ensure immediate detection and rapid response to any suspected infections.

Healthcare staff have been directed to promptly report any sudden increase in symptomatic patients.

Reiterating Meghalaya’s proactive approach, Shylla stated that mobile monitoring units will remain deployed across key border zones to enable early detection and prevent any potential health threat from escalating.
