Shillong Police Rescue Four Missing Teenagers from Hotel in Khyndailad

Information was received on Monday that the four children, aged between 16 and 17 years, had gone missing from Jorhat.

SHILLONG: In a swift operation, the East Khasi Hills police successfully rescued four missing minors, including two boys and two girls, from a local hotel in the city yesterday.

According to the Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, information was received on Monday that the four children, aged between 16 and 17 years, had gone missing from Jorhat.

Acting promptly on the tip-off, a joint team from the Sadar Police Station and the Women Police Station conducted a targeted search operation and tracked down the minors at the J.K. International Hotel located in Khyndailad (Police Bazar).

A 26-year-old adult male was also found in their company at the hotel. During the subsequent police inquiry, the missing girls revealed that they were all friends, while the other two minors are cousins.

The children confessed that they had traveled to Shillong on May 31 for sightseeing without informing or taking permission from their parents. Following their rescue, a police team from Jorhat along with the anxious family members arrived at the Sadar Police Station yesterday itself, where the minors were safely handed over back to them.
