SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) president and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has firmly dismissed speculation about instability in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2 government, asserting that all NPP legislators remain united and the coalition is fully secure.
Speaking after an NPP Parliamentary Party meeting at his official residence—held amid reports that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has approached a segment of NPP MLAs—Sangma described the gathering as routine and unrelated to any emergency.
He reiterated that the NPP’s 33 MLAs are “completely intact,” ensuring the coalition’s strength regardless of recent shifts among alliance partners.

Sangma emphasized that internal dynamics within other parties do not affect the state government’s stability or the coalition’s majority.
He also clarified that there have been no discussions or proposals regarding a cabinet reshuffle or the induction of the eight former UDP legislators who recently joined the BJP.
