NESO Raises Alarm Over Ongoing Manipur Violence, Demands Immediate Government Action

NESO urged all stakeholders and parties involved to exercise restraint and remember their shared humanity.

SHILLONG: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), led by its Chairman Samuel B. Jyrwa, has voiced profound concern over the persistent cycle of violence and bloodshed that continues to plague the state of Manipur.

The organization highlighted its distress regarding the tragic loss of innocent lives and the severe erosion of communal harmony and peace that should naturally exist among the diverse ethnic groups of the region.

The student body condemned the ongoing atrocities committed against unarmed citizens, describing these acts as a blatant disregard for human life and the fundamental right to live in peace and security.

NESO extended its deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and expressed its solidarity with all those affected by the crisis. The organization noted that the sorrow resulting from this situation is felt deeply across the entire Northeast region.

Raising serious questions regarding the efficacy of both the State and Central Governments, NESO criticized their inability to restore normalcy despite the conflict persisting for an extended period. The organization asserted that this prolonged failure to ensure public safety has led to a growing lack of confidence among the people toward the administration and those in power. Consequently, NESO has demanded an immediate, transparent, and effective intervention to halt the violence and prevent further bloodshed.

Chairman Jyrwa emphasized that the delivery of truth and justice must not be delayed. He called for the perpetrators of these crimes to be held accountable and punished strictly according to the law to restore public trust in the judicial system.

In an appeal for peace, NESO urged all stakeholders and parties involved to exercise restraint and remember their shared humanity.

The organization stressed that conflict and violence can never be a permanent solution to any problem. Instead, it advocated for meaningful dialogue and mutual respect as the only viable path toward achieving lasting peace.

Reflecting on its past efforts, NESO reminded the public that it has previously initiated various Peace Missions to mediate and bring stability to the region. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to continuing these efforts for the greater good of the Northeast.

NESO stated that restoring peace in Manipur must be treated as the highest priority, and it is high time for the authorities to act with the utmost responsibility and sincerity.
