SHILLONG: In response to a wave of arson and petrol bomb attacks targeting government offices and vehicles, the East Khasi Hills Police have ordered the immediate installation of operational CCTV cameras at all government offices and have banned the sale of loose fuel in containers at petrol pumps across the district.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Hari Prashanth issued the directives after four separate incidents occurred within 24 hours.
The attacks included a petrol bomb at the Directorate of Mineral Resources (DMR) office in Risa Colony (damaging a private vehicle), another at Lumdiengjri Police Station, a bomb that gutted a Mahindra Bolero at the Directorate of Health Services Health Complex, and an intentional fire that destroyed a police booth at Nongmensong Bazar junction.

Police investigations are ongoing, with officers analyzing CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
SP Prashanth clarified that three incidents involved petrol bombs, while the Nongmensong police booth fire was set using tires.
All government facilities have been instructed to enhance security and maintain active surveillance, while the ban on loose fuel sales aims to prevent further attacks.
