SHILLONG: Police Raid KSU Headquarters in Jaiaw, Tear Gas Fired as Local Residents Clash with Force​In a dramatic late-night operation on Wednesday, the Meghalaya State Police raided and surrounded the central office of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) located in Jaiaw Pdeng, Shillong, in a bid to detain leaders and members present inside the premises.​

A heavy contingent of police personnel, including commandos from the Special Force 10 (SF-10), cordoned off the KSU office around 11:30 PM and launched an extensive search operation to apprehend the union members inside.

​The unexpected and sudden late-night raid triggered widespread anger among local residents of the area, who spilled out onto the streets in large numbers to protest against the police action and attempt to chase the security forces away from the locality.​

As tensions escalated, law enforcement personnel fired tear gas canisters to disperse the swelling crowd and prevent enraged locals from surging forward toward the police team.​
