SHILLONG: Renowned Polish guitarist Marcin Patrzałek, currently on his India tour, expressed admiration for Shillong’s natural beauty, vibrant music culture, and enthusiastic youth during a media interaction in the city on Tuesday.
Reflecting on his first visit, Patrzałek described the journey from the airport as an immediate introduction to the region’s unique landscape.
“It’s been fantastic coming here for the first time. India feels culturally and visually very different from Poland,” he said, adding that he recorded videos throughout the picturesque drive.
Known for his percussive and instrumental guitar style, Patrzałek noted the warm reception from Indian audiences.
“To see such a great reaction in India to this sort of performance is amazing,” he remarked, emphasizing the energetic and youthful audience in Shillong.
“The audience is so young. They are hungry and really want to experience something different and new.”

He praised the city’s urban character, nightlife, neon-lit streets, and live music scene, saying, “I was so impressed that it’s like a real city.”
Patrzałek attended a local blues performance and plans to meet musicians, students, and buskers, hoping for organic collaborations during his stay.
Patrzałek also expressed growing appreciation for Indian classical music, highlighting its depth and rhythmic complexity.
“I’ve been in awe of how deep Indian music goes,” he said, noting recent collaborations with Indian artists and a willingness to pursue more joint projects.
Discussing the challenges of his genre, Patrzałek said, “My mission has always been to bring the percussive style to as many people as possible,” emphasizing the importance of creating a broader artistic experience beyond technical display.
As part of his India tour, Marcin Patrzałek will perform at the “Marcin Art of Guitar Tour 2026” on August 12 at the Lariti Performing Centre, Mawkasiñ, Shillong.
His Shillong visit is one of several stops across India, where he continues to engage with local musicians and music enthusiasts.
