NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has cancelled the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, a key accused in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi.
A Bench comprising Justices M.M. Sundresh and P.B. Varale observed that Sonam’s continued release on bail at this stage could hinder the ongoing trial.
Accordingly, the Court set aside the bail order and granted Sonam two weeks to surrender.
However, the Supreme Court clarified that if the trial is not concluded within six months, Sonam may approach the trial court to file a fresh bail application.
“We are inclined to observe that continued enlargement on bail of the respondent (Sonam Raghuvanshi) at this stage might hinder the ongoing trial. In such a matter, we are inclined to set aside the bail order. The respondent has been given two weeks to surrender. In the event of the trial not concluding within six months, the respondent can submit an application seeking bail,” the Court stated.
