SHILLONG: One person was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident involving a Maruti 800 and an unidentified truck at 7 Mile, near the Air Force station, in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Shailang Sawkmie, a resident of Mairang. The injured, Emarson Nongsteng (25) from Nongkynrih, was admitted to Civil Hospital Shillong for treatment.
The accident occurred around 1:30 am when the Maruti 800 (ML 05 2094) was struck by the truck, which fled the scene.

Both victims were transported to Civil Hospital Shillong by a 108 ambulance, where Sawkmie succumbed to his injuries.
Police are investigating and working to identify the truck involved in the hit-and-run.
