Sangma after he allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol and rammed into two NEHU MSc Chemistry students near Gate No. 2 of the university campus on Monday evening.

The injured students — Stephanie Shadap (22) and Daritngen Ponduhkhei (20) — are currently in the ICU at Nazareth Hospital with serious injuries.

RSSO Assistant Security Officer Questerwell Kharsahnoh said the organisation acted promptly, reiterating that its regulations strictly prohibit any form of intoxication among its personnel.

He added that Sangma was off duty at the time of the incident.

Expressing regret over the incident, Kharsahnoh said strict instructions have been issued to all staff and emphasised that such behaviour will not be tolerated. The organisation also extended its wishes for the students’ speedy recovery.
