SHILLONG: The Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) on Monday organised a felicitation programme to honour James P.K. Sangma following his election as the President of the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA).
The programme was attended by SCA President Peter Macdonald K. Sawian, along with office bearers and members of the association, who extended their appreciation and support to Sangma. The event reflected the strong confidence of the local cricket fraternity in his leadership and vision for the sport.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma expressed gratitude to the SCA for the felicitation and for the trust reposed in him to lead the MCA. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cricket across Meghalaya and assured that he would discharge his responsibilities with dedication and integrity.
Emphasising the importance of collective effort, Sangma highlighted the need for close coordination with district cricket associations, including the SCA, to promote grassroots development, improve cricketing infrastructure, and create more opportunities for young and aspiring cricketers. He also thanked the SCA leadership for their continued support and assured transparent, inclusive, and open communication with all stakeholders.
As part of the ceremony, SCA President Peter Macdonald K. Sawian presented a memento to the newly elected MCA President. A bouquet was presented by SCA Vice President Alex Lynser, while the traditional ryndia was presented by SCA Secretary Banri K. Malki, adding a cultural touch to the occasion.
