SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Police have arrested two persons in connection with a mobile phone snatching and assault incident that occurred near the CM Connect building at Golflinks on January 21, 2026.
According to EKH Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, an FIR was received on January 22 stating that at around 6:30 PM on January 21, two pedestrians were assaulted by assailants riding a Scooty, following which their mobile phones were forcibly snatched.
Following sustained investigation, a police team led by IC Pasteur arrested Kitbok Kitbok Thabah @ Koi (29), a resident of Golflinks, Khliehshnong, on January 27. His co-accused, Daniel Syiemlieh (23), a resident of Nongmynsong Dongkamon, was subsequently arrested from his residence.
A case has been registered at Sadar Police Station vide Case No. 16(01)2026 under sections 115(2)/304(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have successfully recovered and seized the stolen mobile phones. The Scooty used in the commission of the crime, bearing registration number ML05 AG 0461, has also been seized.
Further investigation is ongoing.
