VPP Eyes Shillong Seat, 2028 Majority

On internal matters, Basaiawmoit stressed party discipline and announced a strengthened Disciplinary Committee to address any deviation.

SHILLONG: Voice of the People Party (VPP) leader Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit has declared that the party is set to retain the Shillong Parliamentary seat and aims to form the next Meghalaya government in 2028.

Addressing supporters, Basaiawmoit credited the VPP’s rapid rise to public trust in its principles and commitment to clean, transparent governance.

Basaiawmoit highlighted the party’s growth from four constituencies to 26 MDCs, one MP, and a strong grassroot network.

He affirmed that the late Dr. Ricky Andrew Syngkon’s ideological foundation continues to guide the party, urging supporters not to regret past choices and to stay focused on the VPP’s mission.

He dismissed attempts to blame the VPP for the current political landscape, emphasizing that the party is striving for a stable, independent government.

On internal matters, Basaiawmoit stressed party discipline and announced a strengthened Disciplinary Committee to address any deviation from core principles.

He called on all leaders and supporters to remain united and dedicated to the VPP’s vision of honest, people-centered governance.
