SHILLONG: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah chairing the 73rd Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Meghalaya.

On this occasion, Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia, Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijay Shankar, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Union Minister of State for DoNER Sukanto Majumdar, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and Secretary of the Ministry of DoNER Sanjay Jaju were present.

The meeting is also attended by the Governors and Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim, along with many other dignitaries.

Frustration mounted as commuters were halted for extended periods to facilitate VIP passage, leading to heated exchanges between agitated citizens and on-duty magistrates over the disruption and inconvenience caused.
