Aspirants Seek Clarity as Delay Persists in Meghalaya Police Recruitment Results

Officials explained that the delay was due to the recruitment process being managed by an external company, not the Police Department.

SHILLONG: The delay by the Police Department in announcing the results of the written examination for various posts conducted in May 2025 has prompted a group of young job aspirants to seek clarification from the Central Recruitment Board (CRB) in Mawlai Mawroh.

After meeting with the Chairman of the Recruitment Board, Dalton Marak, one of the aspirants clarified that their visit was not a protest, but simply an effort to obtain information on when the results would be declared.

“We just wanted to know the status because it’s already been more than three months since we took the exam in May. The Home (Police) Minister had assured that results would be released within three months, but there has been no update so far,” the candidate said.

The CRB had, in May and June this year, conducted the written examination for multiple posts, including UB Constable, MPRO GD, Constable Handyman, MPRO Operator, Unarmed Branch Constable, UBSI, and Signal/BN Operator.

During the meeting, Marak explained that the delay was due to the recruitment process being managed by an external company, not the Police Department. “We are hopeful that the interview process will begin by October or November, and we are satisfied with the clarification from the official,” one of the aspirants added.

Speaking separately, Chairman Dalton Marak confirmed that the delay stemmed from the company handling the recruitment process. He also shared key statistics, revealing that the department had received 1,72,000 applications, out of which 1,28,000 candidates appeared for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). From these, 58,000 qualified, and 54,000 later sat for the written examination.

“As of now, the company is still evaluating the written test scripts, which has caused the delay,” Marak stated. “While we cannot specify an exact date, we are hopeful of announcing the results within this month or the next, after which the interview process for successful candidates will begin,” he added.
