MAWKYRWAT: Police recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified man from a river at Phodpynton, under Mawranglang village, Lai Kyntoit, South West Khasi Hills District, around 6:10 p.m. on August 29.
Superintendent of Police B. Jyrwa (MPS) said the body was found lodged between rocks in a curled position, partially clothed in black shorts, with the upper body exposed.
A taweez was tied around the deceased’s upper right arm.

The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making immediate identification and determination of the cause of death impossible at the site.
The remains have been sent to Civil Hospital Shillong for post-mortem examination, which is expected to help establish the man’s identity and the cause of death.
