KHNAM Questions KHADC Over Conflicting Claims on North Eastern Security Services Blacklisting

The organization is now demanding that the KHADC move beyond media statements and take concrete legal or administrative action

SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), through its Central Executive Committee, has issued a stern demand for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to clear the air regarding conflicting reports over the alleged blacklisting of the North Eastern Security Services (NESS).

The political organization raised serious questions after identifying a glaring discrepancy between the public statements made by the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC and the counterclaims recently made by the security firm’s management.

According to KHNAM, the CEM had publicly asserted three months ago that the Council had uncovered fraudulent activities by NESS concerning a tender at NIT Sohra. At that time, the CEM announced that the KHADC had officially revoked the firm’s trade license for its operations at KV Laitkor and had formally placed the company on a “blacklist.”

This matter was further solidified in the public eye during a KHADC session two months ago, where the CEM reiterated these points while responding to inquiries from the Leader of Opposition.

However, KHNAM pointed out that these administrative claims may be nothing more than empty rhetoric. The movement cited a report from the Shillong Times dated April 29, 2026, in which the Managing Director of NESS categorically denied receiving any formal notification from the KHADC regarding a blacklist.

Furthermore, the Managing Director clarified that the firm’s trading license at KV Laitkor was never cancelled; rather, the contract simply expired on March 31, 2026, and a new tender process is currently underway.

KHNAM has strongly condemned the situation, suggesting that if the Managing Director’s statements are true, it would imply that the CEM misled the public and provided false information even within the sacred floor of the Council’s house.

The organization is now demanding that the KHADC move beyond media statements and take concrete legal or administrative action if the firm truly committed any illegal acts.

Stressing that this confusion undermines public trust, KHNAM is calling for an immediate and definitive clarification from the KHADC to resolve the conflicting narratives.
