SHILLONG: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in a yoga session at the Eastern Air Command in Shillong, joined by personnel of the armed forces and officials from the state administration.
The event was marked by a spirit of discipline and wellness, with participants performing various yoga asanas to promote physical and mental well-being.
Speaking to the media, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for institutionalizing June 21 as International Yoga Day. He also thanked the Defence Minister for his visit to Shillong and for actively taking part in the celebrations.
Sharing his personal experience, the Chief Minister encouraged people—especially the youth—to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. He emphasized that yoga not only enhances physical fitness and flexibility but also contributes positively to mental health and overall well-being.
The visit also provided an opportunity for key discussions on strategic road connectivity and infrastructure development in Meghalaya, underlining the importance of improving accessibility in the region alongside promoting holistic health practices.
