SHILLONG: Eight members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Central Executive Committee (CEC) reported to Sadar Police Station on Thursday in response to notices issued by East Khasi Hills District Police under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
However, they allege they were not allowed to enter the police station premises.
The eight KSU leaders—Assistant General Secretary Pynshai Rani, Information and Publicity Secretary Pynshai Dkhar, James Mawphniang, Erick Nongkynrih, Alralick Kharjana, Shaining Kharbikhiew, Cleanser Shabong, and Gery Mawlieh—said they appeared as directed, presented their notices, but were denied entry.
Speaking to reporters, Assistant General Secretary Pynshai Rani emphasized that the leaders had complied with the police summons and had not refused to appear.
“We have complied with the date given to us. Please do not send notices to all eight of us again. As police officers, you should perform your duty,” Rani said.
Rani clarified that the summons were in connection with incidents from the KSU rally on August 19.

He said the group was not given any specific reason for being denied entry, despite showing their notices to the police.
Information and Publicity Secretary Pynshai Dkhar added that the Section 94 notice required the KSU to produce physical documents and electronic communications related to rally participants.
He reiterated that the leaders had complied by appearing at the station but left after not being permitted to enter.
