Nongrah Murder Case: 7-Year-Old Victim Died of Suffocation, Confirms SP Syiem

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is continuing its probe to uncover more details surrounding the incident.

SHILLONG: Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem, has confirmed that the death of minor boy Kyrshanbor Kharmudai from Nongrah Lummarboh was caused by suffocation, while the police await the forensic report for further confirmation.

Speaking to the media, Syiem said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is continuing its probe to uncover more details surrounding the incident.

He also provided an update on the ongoing investigation into the murder of a 4-yr-old girl of Nongrah. The SP stated that the inquiry is taking time as the accused is a minor, and the investigation must follow procedures laid down by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Syiem informed that while police have investigated the possibility of sexual assault, no such evidence has been found on the victim’s body so far. However, the police are still questioning the boy to determine the motive behind the crime.

“The investigation is progressing, and the SIT will continue its efforts to ensure that the truth behind both cases is fully uncovered,” Syiem added.
