SHILLONG: The Synjuk Nongialam Shnong ka Ri Mooliang met Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on September 9 to seek clarification regarding the state government’s decision to establish the permanent office of the Ri Mooliang C&RD Block in Tynghor Village.
Association spokesperson Distarborlin Wanniang stated that while a minority of residents have opposed the move, the vast majority across the three Himas fully support Tynghor as the site, citing its central location and accessibility for the entire region.
Wanniang clarified that the previous foundation stone at Nonglang was for a temporary setup only, and expressed satisfaction that the government has secured permanent land in Tynghor.
Deputy Chief Minister Tynsong explained that the decision aims to bring administration closer to the people and enhance security for border residents.

He noted that while Langpih was considered, its remoteness made it unsuitable.
After evaluating Tynghor, Mawprah, and Nonglang, the government selected Tynghor as the most feasible option.
The association extended full support to the government’s plan, emphasizing that Tynghor best serves all residents.
The meeting was prompted by opposition from some residents seeking to retain the office at Nonglang.
