SHILLONG: Voice of the People Party (VPP) MDC from Mawkyrwat Constituency, Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin, has resigned from his post as an Executive Member (EM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
The reason behind Kharjahrin’s resignation could not be immediately ascertained. However, an official notification issued on Friday confirmed that the Governor of Meghalaya has accepted his resignation.
According to the notification issued by CVD Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, District Council Affairs Department, Governor C.H. Vijayashankar has accepted Kharjahrin’s resignation from the office of Executive Member of the KHADC.
The resignation was accepted under Rule 21(1)(b) of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous District (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951.
Kharjahrin, who represents the Mawkyrwat Constituency in the KHADC, stepped down from the post of Executive Member with immediate effect. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the circumstances leading to his resignation.
