SHILLONG: The road near Vishal, leading towards Pegasus in Shillong, has deteriorated considerably, causing inconvenience to pedestrians.
The road serves as an alternative route for vehicles coming from the Police Reserve and Jail Road areas, helping to reduce traffic congestion at Khyndai Lad. However, over the past few weeks, the road has reportedly deteriorated badly, with no visible repair work undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD).
A visit to the area on Monday revealed the poor condition of the road, making it difficult for pedestrians to pass through.
It was also observed that portions of the road near Pegasus had been dug up, while another section had been excavated and filled with stones, further affecting pedestrian movement.
The condition of the road has raised concerns over the lack of maintenance and the delay in carrying out necessary repairs. Questions have also been raised over who was responsible for digging up the road and obstructing the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the area.
